Role Overview
Saudi Gold Refinery (SGR) is seeking a Mining Lab Sales in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to expand our commercial laboratory services for the mining and exploration sector. This role focuses on securing contracts for ISO 17025-accredited assay and analytical services from junior miners, exploration companies, and industrial clients across the Kingdom. The position requires a blend of technical geological knowledge and commercial sales expertise to translate laboratory capabilities into measurable revenue growth.
The Mining Lab Sales will report directly to the Sales Manager and will play a key role in positioning SGR as a leading provider of third-party geological testing in Saudi Arabia. This position directly supports the company's Vision 2030 alignment by enabling local exploration companies to access world-class analytical services within the Kingdom.
Key Responsibilities
The following responsibilities define the core accountabilities for this position.
Prospecting and Lead Generation
The role identifies and qualifies potential clients among holders of exploration licenses issued by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources. This involves mapping active projects in the Arabian Shield and initiating contact with geological decision-makers.
Technical Sales Presentations
This position delivers compelling presentations to mining clients that highlight SGR's accreditation, turnaround times, and analytical precision. The sales professional explains the value of ISO 17025 compliance for resource estimation and regulatory reporting.
Proposal Development
The role prepares detailed commercial proposals that specify analytical methods, pricing, and service level agreements. Each proposal is tailored to the client's specific sampling volume and technical requirements.
Contract Negotiation
This position negotiates contract terms including payment schedules, volume discounts, and liability clauses with client procurement teams. The sales professional ensures all agreements align with SGR's financial governance policies.
Client Relationship Management
The role maintains ongoing relationships with key accounts to ensure high retention rates and repeat business. This includes resolving any service issues and facilitating communication between clients and the laboratory team.
Market Intelligence Gathering
This position monitors competitor activities and pricing strategies in the regional geological testing market. The sales professional provides regular reports to management on market trends and emerging opportunities.
Cross-Functional Coordination
The role collaborates with the Laboratory Manager to ensure client samples are processed according to agreed timelines. This involves coordinating with sample reception and quality assurance teams to prevent bottlenecks.
Revenue Target Achievement
This position is accountable for meeting monthly and quarterly sales targets for third-party laboratory services. The sales professional tracks pipeline progress and adjusts strategies to ensure consistent revenue delivery.
Regulatory Compliance Awareness
The role ensures all sales activities comply with Saudi commercial laws and SGR's internal ethical standards. This includes verifying client identities and adhering to anti-money laundering guidelines where applicable.
Reporting and Forecasting
This position submits weekly sales reports and revenue forecasts to the Sales Manager. The sales professional uses CRM data to provide accurate visibility into future business performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Mining Engineering, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical sales within the mining or geological laboratory sector.
- Proven ability to sell complex technical services to mining exploration and production companies.
- Strong understanding of analytical methods such as fire assay and spectroscopy.
- Fluency in both English and Arabic is essential for effective client communication.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to remote exploration sites within Saudi Arabia.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office applications for sales management.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage a geographic sales territory.
Preferred / Nice-to-have
- Experience with ISO 17025 accredited laboratory environments is highly desirable.
- Existing network within the Saudi mining exploration community.
- Master's degree in Business Administration or a technical mineral processing field.
- Knowledge of Saudi mining regulations and the licensing process under MIM.
- Familiarity with precious metals markets and resource estimation standards.

- Achievement of 100% of the annual revenue target for third-party laboratory services.
- Acquisition of at least 10 new active mining or exploration clients within the first year.
- Maintenance of a 90% client retention rate for existing commercial accounts.
