Role Overview

Saudi Gold Refinery (SGR) is seeking an Occupational Health Nurse in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to provide clinical care and health surveillance for our refining and exploration operations. This role ensures the medical fitness of employees working with hazardous materials and supports emergency response protocols at the site. The position requires a licensed nurse with industrial experience to maintain compliance with Saudi health regulations and ISO standards.

The Occupational Health Nurse will report directly to the HSE Manager and will play a key role in safeguarding employee health through proactive medical monitoring and emergency care. This position directly contributes to operational continuity by minimizing health-related downtime and ensuring regulatory compliance.


Key Responsibilities

The Occupational Health Nurse will execute the following responsibilities to ensure high standards of occupational health and safety.

Emergency Medical Care

The role provides immediate first aid and stabilization for employees injured in plant operations or suffering from acute medical conditions. This includes managing chemical burns, inhalation injuries, and trauma cases before external transfer.

Health Surveillance Programs

This position conducts pre-employment and periodic medical examinations to assess fitness for duty in hazardous environments. It tracks employee health metrics to identify early signs of occupational illnesses related to refining processes.

Regulatory Compliance

The nurse maintains accurate medical records and submits required reports to the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. It ensures all health practices align with Saudi labor laws and internal governance policies.

Clinic Management

The role manages the inventory of medical supplies and ensures the operational readiness of the site ambulance and emergency equipment. It oversees the proper disposal of medical waste in compliance with environmental regulations.

Health Training and Awareness

This position delivers training on first aid, CPR, and chemical safety to new hires and existing staff. It develops health awareness campaigns to address site-specific risks such as heat stress and ergonomic hazards.

Incident Investigation Support

The nurse collaborates with the HSE team to investigate medical aspects of workplace incidents and near misses. It provides data on injury trends to support preventive safety measures and root cause analysis.

Return-to-Work Coordination

The role assesses injured employees for fitness to return to duty and coordinates with HR on leave management. It ensures that medical restrictions are communicated to supervisors to prevent re-injury.

External Liaison

This position maintains relationships with local hospitals and emergency services to facilitate rapid patient transfer. It coordinates with occupational health consultants for specialized medical assessments when required.


Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution recognized by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.

Valid SCFHS license as a Registered Nurse with current practicing status in Saudi Arabia.

Minimum of five years of nursing experience with at least two years in an industrial or mining environment.

Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Proficiency in English for documentation and Arabic for workforce communication.

Knowledge of occupational health regulations and MHRSD reporting requirements.

Experience in managing medical emergencies and chemical exposure incidents.

Ability to work shift rotations including nights and weekends as per operational needs.


Preferred / Nice-to-have

Occupational Health Nursing Certification (COHN) or equivalent.

Previous experience in a gold refining or precious metals facility.

Training in hazardous material response and emergency management.

Familiarity with ISO 45001 health and safety management systems.

Experience with electronic medical records and health data analysis.
