Role Overview
Saudi Gold Refinery (SGR) is seeking a Site Doctor in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to provide essential occupational health and emergency medical services for our exploration and refining operations. This role ensures the health and safety of our workforce by managing on-site medical clinics and responding to emergencies in compliance with Ministry of Health standards. The Site Doctor plays a critical part in maintaining operational continuity by preventing occupational diseases and managing health risks associated with mining and refining activities.
The Site Doctor will report directly to the HSE Manager and will play a key role in developing and executing our occupational health strategy. This position requires a medical professional who can operate effectively in both clinical and remote field environments to support our Vision 2030 aligned growth plans.
Key Responsibilities
The Site Doctor will be responsible for the following key areas of occupational health and medical support.
- Emergency Medical Care: The role provides immediate emergency medical treatment and trauma stabilization for employees and contractors at all site locations.
- Occupational Health Surveillance: This position conducts pre-employment and periodic medical examinations to ensure employee fitness for duty in hazardous environments.
- Clinic Operations Management: The Site Doctor manages the daily operations of the site clinic including inventory control of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.
- Health Risk Assessment: The role identifies and assesses health risks associated with operational processes and recommends preventive measures to management.
- Medical Evacuation Coordination: This position coordinates medical evacuations and liaises with external hospitals to ensure timely advanced care for severe cases.
- Health Training and Education: The Site Doctor delivers first aid and health awareness training to site personnel to enhance emergency response capabilities.
- Regulatory Compliance: The role ensures all medical practices and records comply with Saudi Ministry of Health and Saudi Food and Drug Authority regulations.
- Health Data Reporting: This position prepares and submits monthly health statistics and reports to the HSE Manager and regulatory authorities as required.
- Infectious Disease Control: The Site Doctor implements and monitors infectious disease prevention protocols to protect the workforce from outbreaks.
- Mental Health Support: The role provides initial mental health support and referrals for employees experiencing stress or psychological difficulties.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from an accredited medical university.
- Valid medical license issued by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS).
- Minimum of five years of clinical experience with at least two years in occupational health.
- Proven experience in emergency medicine and trauma care in industrial settings.
- Knowledge of Saudi labor laws and Ministry of Health regulations regarding occupational health.
- Proficiency in English for medical documentation and communication with international staff.
- Ability to work flexible hours including on-call duties for emergency response.
- Valid driving license with the ability to travel to remote project sites.
Preferred / Nice-to-have
- Master's degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Industrial Medicine.
- Experience in the mining or heavy industrial sector within the GCC region.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
- Proficiency in Arabic to facilitate communication with local workforce and authorities.
- Experience with electronic medical records systems in an industrial context.
Success Metrics
- 100% compliance with Ministry of Health licensing and operational standards for the site clinic.
- Response time to medical emergencies maintained under five minutes across all operational zones.
- Completion of 100% of scheduled periodic medical examinations for high-risk employees.
- Reduction in heat-related illnesses through effective prevention and monitoring programs.
- Training of at least 50 site personnel in basic first aid and CPR techniques annually.
- Zero breaches of patient confidentiality and medical data protection standards.
- Accurate and timely submission of all required health reports to regulatory authorities.
